Yasmeen Slamdien and her horse, Tokyo Drift, competed in the South African National Equestrian Schools Association Competition, winning first place in equitation and placing in show jumping. Tokyo used to be a racehorse, and Yasmeen has been training him from the basics for the past three years. She began horseback riding in Grade 3 and practices once or twice a week.
Yasmeen’s interest in horse riding began at a young age after watching movies featuring the sport. Despite facing a mental block when trying new things or changing routines, she continues to push herself to improve. She emphasizes the importance of working together with her horse as a team, rather than as individuals.
Yasmeen has won over 30 rosette awards and continues to train regularly with Tokyo Drift. She hopes to overcome her challenges and continue to excel in equestrian competitions, showcasing the strong bond she has developed with her horse.
