White Abarrio Set to Compete in $3 Million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes

White Abarrio, winner of the Florida Derby and other prestigious races, is set to compete in the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes against top rivals including Mystic Dan and Saudi Crown. After a pair of rear-half finishes in 2024, White Abarrio returned to trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and has since shown strong performances in two starts.

White Abarrio is a versatile performer effective in sprints and longer races, with jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. returning to ride him in the Pegasus. Another contender in the race is Mystik Dan, who has struggled in recent starts but trainer McPeek remains optimistic about his potential as an older horse. The Pegasus features a competitive field with entries from top trainers like Brad Cox and Todd Pletcher.

The Pegasus is part of a program with seven graded races and 10 stakes overall, with a total purse of $5.5 million. NBC will provide television coverage of the event, which is set to take place at Gulfstream Park on January 25, 2025.
