Former USEF Eventing Development Coach Leslie Law has been appointed as the Chef d’Equipe and High Performance Manager for the Defender U.S. Eventing Team, while Karyn Shuter will take on the role of U.S. Eventing High Performance Advisor. Both will begin their roles immediately, with Law bringing his expertise and experience as an individual Olympic gold and team silver medalist to the position. Shuter, on the other hand, will work on developing a long-term strategy for sustained success in the sport of eventing.
Law expressed his honor at being chosen for the role, stating his clear understanding of the talent and ability within the U.S. eventing programs. Shuter, as the new High Performance Advisor, is looking forward to contributing to the success of the athletes and identifying ways to improve performance at international and championship levels. Both Law and Shuter will report to Managing Director of Eventing, Amber Braun, as they work towards building sustained success and a culture of excellence leading into the LA 2028 Games and beyond.
Christina Vaughn, who has worked with Law on the USEF Eventing Development programs for the past decade, will transition into the role of USEF Eventing Elite Program Director and Team Leader. The appointment of Law and Shuter has been met with enthusiasm from the athletes, who believe their combined expertise and passion will inspire the team to achieve new heights.
