The U.S. Para dressage Program recently hosted a symposium in Wellington, Fla., providing valuable feedback and access to judging for combinations within the program. The event, led by Chef d’Equipe and Technical Advisor Michel Assouline, featured ride-a-test opportunities with Level 4 FEI judge Sarah Leitch, offering insight and feedback to both newer and seasoned combinations. Participants included Paralympians and team athletes, with a focus on each combination’s way of going, outline and profile, and suppleness and rhythm.
The symposium received positive feedback from Leitch, who noted the high standard of horses and harmonious riding seen during the event. The U.S. Para dressage Team is preparing for the second CPEDI3* of the year in Wellington, aiming to implement finishing touches for each combination named to the team. Assouline expressed confidence in the team’s ability to excel, with a focus on strategic planning and maintaining a commitment to excellence in preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
Assouline has agreed to continue overseeing the program through the 2028 Paralympic Games, with a focus on maintaining the team’s leading position in para dressage. The program will involve a combination of West Coast shows, training camps, and European shows in the coming years to ensure continued success.
