Trainer Jose D’Angelo has two fast sophomore turf fillies in his barn, with Cloe coming into the Senorita Stakes as a stakes winner after a gate-to-wire victory in the Melody of Colors Stakes. Cloe will be ridden by Luis Saez and is the probable pacesetter in the 6 1/2-furlong race at Santa Anita Park.
Local contender Jungle Peace, trained by Phil D’Amato, will look to challenge Cloe after winning two races on the Santa Anita turf. Another contender, Amorita, trained by Richard Mandella, will be cutting back in distance for the Senorita Stakes after posting a high Equibase Speed Figure in her last two starts.
The Senorita Stakes will feature a competitive field of 3-year-old fillies, with Cloe, Jungle Peace, and Amorita among the top contenders in the $100,000 Grade 3 race at Santa Anita Park on April 27.
