Tragic Loss: Horse Perishes in Flood Waters on Pruitt Lane

A horse died after being driven into flood waters on Pruitt Lane, caused by heavy rain. The horse was pulling a buggy, but all occupants were able to escape unharmed. The water has only risen on Pruitt Lane, leading to multiple rescues and officials urging citizens not to cross flooded roadways.

The Pembroke Fire Department thanked the local Amish community for their assistance in prior rescues and for helping to erect fencing to prevent people from crossing the flooded road. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in the 42000 block of Pruitt Lane. The horse was the only casualty in the incident, with all occupants of the buggy managing to escape the flood waters.

The Pembroke Fire Department shared a photo of the incident on their Facebook page, highlighting the dangers of attempting to cross flooded roadways. The horse’s death serves as a tragic reminder of the risks posed by flood waters, and officials are working to prevent further incidents by urging caution and avoiding flooded areas.
