Tiztastic, a son of Tiz The Law, won the Grade II Louisiana Derby by 2 ¼ lengths, putting himself firmly on the Kentucky Derby trail. Trained by Steve Asmussen, Tiztastic raced nearly 10 lengths off the leader for the first half of the race before advancing his position and swinging wide for the stretch run, ultimately catching the leader and winning the race.
The victory in the Louisiana Derby brought Tiztastic’s record to three wins and three other top three finishes, earning $1,549,800. Trainer Asmussen praised jockey Joel for giving the horse a perfect trip and noted that Tiztastic has a great mind and is continuing to improve. The horse was bred by Capital Bloodstock out of Tapit mare Keesha, who has produced multiple stakes winners and producers.
With his win in the Louisiana Derby, Tiztastic now leads all 3-year-olds on the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 119 points, making him one of only two horses to break the 100 point barrier so far. The victory solidifies Tiztastic’s position as a top contender for the Kentucky Derby.
