Title: Fire Crews Tackle Large Muck Heap Blaze in South Oxfordshire

Crews from Oxford’s Rewley Road Fire Station, Thame Fire Station, and Slade Park Fire Station were called to the fire in South Oxfordshire on Saturday (April 19).

At around 10am, the crews attended the large muck heap on fire while a water carrier from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was also mobilised due to limited water supplies in the area.

Commenting on Easter Sunday morning, a spokesperson for Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews worked hard to reduce the risk of the fire spreading. Hose reel jets were used to suppress the fire, and hay drags and forks were used to prevent the whole pile being affected. Mechanical assistance was also provided by a neighbouring farmer which helped to move the heap to a safer location. Due to the size of the heap, relief crews were also used before the incident was handed over to the occupier."

"Crew manager Bransby was able to use his equestrian knowledge to reassure and calm the horses, maintaining stable relationships."

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service shared photographs which showed the blaze and the horses as well as firefighters at work. The fire service did not disclose the exact location of the incident.
