Thorpedo Anna Wins Horse of the Year at Eclipse Awards, Beats Male Competition

Thorpedo Anna won Horse of the Year at the Eclipse Awards, becoming the second 3-year-old filly to do so. Trained by Ken McPeek, she earned six Grade 1 victories, including the Kentucky Oaks, and finished second in the Travers. Sierra Leone finished second in the voting, and Fierceness received five votes.

Chad Brown won Trainer of the Year, with Sierra Leone winning 3-year-old male honors. Flavien Prat was voted top jockey, breaking Jerry Bailey’s record with 56 graded stakes victories. Erik Asmussen, son of Steve Asmussen, earned apprentice jockey honors.

Godolphin LLC was named outstanding owner for the fifth consecutive year, with Godolphin also winning top breeder. Other winners included Citizen Bull as 2-year-old male, Immersive as 2-year-old filly, and various other horses in different categories. The awards are voted on by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form, and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters.
