Ferdinand BB, a 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding, was previously ridden by Jessica von Bredow-Werndl before being passed on to student and assistant rider Raphael Netz in 2022. Netz became the European Under 25 Champion on Ferdinand, scoring high in various tests at competitions.
Ferdinand BB is by Florencio out of La Corunia and was bred by Bernhard Sieverding. He was initially competed by Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, representing Germany at the World Young Horse Championships in 2014. After a break from international showing, Ferdinand was slowly produced up the levels and competed in various competitions.
Jessica von Bredow-Werndl revealed that Ferdinand has been “retired” from high performance sport but is still being ridden and enjoyed as a fun horse by owner Beatrice Burchler-Keller. Ferdinand’s retirement from top-level competition was due to the decision that he was not suitable for international top sport and another rider was not a long-term option for Beatrice.
