The Impact of a Free Riding Lesson: A Decade of Volunteerism at Centaur Stride

One of the best volunteers at Centaur Stride has been coming to the center for the past 10 years, with a love for horses that started at a young age. The volunteer’s daughter, Grace, also volunteers at the center, starting when she won a free riding lesson at a raffle when she was 7. The family’s love for horses led to the creation of Centaur Stride, a therapeutic riding center that provides a needed service for many people.

The journey to starting Centaur Stride began with a 4-H Horse Club in Westfield, where the author’s children were introduced to horse riding and care. The family eventually acquired their own horses and decided to start the therapeutic riding center. Despite the challenges and time investment, Centaur Stride has become a successful not-for-profit corporation that provides valuable services to the community.

The article encourages support for Centaur Stride through donations, volunteering, and purchasing gift certificates for riding lessons. The center offers riding lessons and gift certificates for $35, and volunteering is free with training provided. Donations can be sent to Centaur Stride, Inc., and more information can be found on their website and Facebook page.
