Susan Simpson Takes the Reins as President of Chatham-Kent 4-H Association

Susan Simpson, a long-time member of the Chatham-Kent 4-H Association, has taken on the role of president in February. With experience in various 4-H clubs such as dairy, beef, goats, and more, Simpson is looking to increase membership after a decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, there are 130 members between the ages of six and 21, and Simpson hopes to attract more participants by showcasing the organization’s activities on social media.

Children between the ages of six and eight can participate in activities like building birdhouses and riding tractors, while older kids up to 21 have options like archery, biking, and public speaking lessons. The annual fee for membership is $110, allowing members to join any club they are interested in. Simpson is optimistic about the future of the organization and is focused on expanding membership and engagement.

Simpson’s goal as president for the next two years is to see an increase in membership and engagement within the Chatham-Kent 4-H Association. She believes that showcasing the organization’s activities on social media will attract new members and encourage participation. With a variety of clubs and activities available for children of different ages, Simpson is hopeful that the organization will continue to thrive and connect with more young people in the community.
