Sunshine Horses recently completed a renovation project at their main barn in Clay, funded by an Agritourism Grant and a gift from Rocco and Dianna Grosso. The project included the installation of a fully accessible handicap bathroom to improve access for individuals with disabilities, in line with Sunshine Horses’ mission to provide improved access for all individuals.
The new accessible bathroom features a wider doorway, ramp for wheelchair maneuverability, grab bars, raised toilet seat, and adequate turning space within the stall. The project was awarded to Dave Beck Remodeling, with Sunshine Horses expressing gratitude for the contractor’s commitment to safety for workers, horses, and volunteers.
Founded in 2003, Sunshine Horses is an independent adoption agency dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses. They are the first rescue in Central New York to be accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Rescues. Through volunteer support, grants, and community donations, Sunshine Horses has found loving homes for over 300 horses and is one of the largest Standardbred rescue and adoption groups in New York State.
