Casey’s Safe Haven, a Maple Park animal rescue, is facing the possibility of losing their farm, which would result in the euthanization of many abused and neglected animals in their care. The farm has been put on the market, and the organization is scrambling to raise funds to make an offer on the property. Many of the animals at Casey’s are not fit for adoption and would not survive a move to a new location.
The organization has been a sanctuary for mistreated animals since 2012, providing care and attention to horses, ponies, and a donkey named Petunia. The farm is home to several blind horses and ponies, as well as elderly residents who require specialized care. Without the farm, most of the animals would face euthanization, making it crucial for Casey’s to raise the necessary funds to purchase the property.
The farm holds a special significance for many, including Michelle Wollter, whose daughter Emma found solace and purpose at Casey’s before her tragic death in a car accident. Wollter has started a GoFundMe page to help save the farm, emphasizing the importance of preserving the legacy of the organization and the impact it has had on both animals and people like her daughter.
