Starbrite Therapeutic Equestrian Center Breaks Ground on New Facility for Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities

The Starbrite Therapeutic Equestrian Center in Whitehouse, Texas, has begun construction on a new all-weather riding arena and barn for individuals with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. The facility is a Christ-centered nonprofit that offers horse-assisted activities and therapies for veterans and those with disabilities. The new arena and barn will allow for more sessions to be offered and reduce the current waitlist.

The new facility is seen as a sanctuary of healing, hope, and empowerment for those who participate in the programs at Starbrite. The indoor arena will allow for sessions to continue even in inclement weather, providing a consistent and reliable space for individuals to engage in therapeutic horseback riding. The project was made possible through the support of local foundations, donors, and the Adams family, who contributed funds in honor of their son and the veterans and first responders served by Starbrite.

The new facility will provide a covered space for individuals like rider Ellie Butts to continue engaging in therapeutic horseback riding, which has been shown to improve physical well-being, alleviate pain, and boost confidence. The community support for the project has been significant, with over $2 million raised to make the new arena and barn a reality. Starbrite looks forward to completing the vision and welcoming everyone back for the grand opening of a place where hope truly takes the reins.
