Spotlight on Riece Locke: A Day in the Life at Ten Sixty Stables

Riece Locke of Campbellford, Ontario, is highlighted in the Sunday Spotlight at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio. She serves as a rider, groom, and manager at Ten Sixty Stables in Uxbridge, where she is recognized for her work ethic and care of the horses. Riece started riding at the age of four and transitioned to working at TSS after being involved in horse shows in her area.

At Ten Sixty Stables, Riece’s day at horse shows involves feeding, exercising, and preparing the horses for competition. She enjoys working with competitive horses and appreciates the variety in her job, which includes riding, buying and selling horses, and organizing show-related tasks. One of her favorite memories at TSS was when Gin Tonic placed second in the Canadian Championships and qualified for the International week at The Royal Winter Fair.

Riece’s favorite horse at the moment is Comme Cartani, who she finds lovely to ride with an easygoing attitude. She also reflects on a special horse she owned named Lancelot du Faurieu Z, who she showed in the 1.20 low amateurs before selling him as a Derby horse. Riece’s passion for the sport and dedication to her role at Ten Sixty Stables are evident in her work with the horses and her involvement in organizing shows.
