Sandy Thomson Disagrees with BHA Decision to Ban Mr Incredible from Aintree Grand National

Sandy Thomson disagrees with the British Horseracing Authority’s decision to prevent Mr Incredible from taking part in the Grand National at Aintree this weekend. The BHA was concerned that the horse would disrupt the start of the race, but Thomson believes Mr Incredible had a good chance of success if allowed to run. Despite two requests to withdraw the horse, Thomson stood firm in his decision to have Mr Incredible compete.

Thomson defended Mr Incredible’s form, pointing out that he had finished second in the Midlands National and had not disrupted any starts in previous races. He expressed disappointment at the BHA’s decision and emphasized the amount of work that had been put into preparing the horse for the Grand National. Thomson also mentioned that Mr Incredible will now be aimed at the Scottish National at Ayr and the Bet365 at Sandown as his only remaining options for competition.

The owner of Mr Incredible, James Manclark, had dreamed of having a runner in the Aintree spectacular, making the decision to withdraw the horse even more disappointing. Thomson compared Mr Incredible’s situation to that of Yorkhill, a quirky horse who was pulled up at Aintree but went on to win the Rehearsal Chase. Despite the setbacks, Thomson remains confident in Mr Incredible’s form and is looking ahead to future races.
