Rich Strike, the 2022 Kentucky Derby winner, is now settling in at Mountain Springs Farm in Pennsylvania where he will stand at stud for $6,500. The farm attracted a large crowd during an open house event, with many breeders showing interest in the stallion due to the strength of the Pennsylvania-bred program and racing opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The decision to stand Rich Strike at Mountain Springs was influenced by the farm’s strong stallion roster, which includes Enticed and Uptowncharlybrown, two of the top Pennsylvania sires. The farm’s proximity to Delaware and Virginia also makes it an attractive location for breeders looking to take advantage of different state-bred programs.
In addition to Rich Strike, Alejandro, a son of Curlin and Rachel’s Valentina, will also enter stud at Mountain Springs this year for $1,500. Rich Strike, who earned over $2.5 million in his racing career, comes from a strong bloodline that includes grade-winning horses like Gold Strike and Llanarmon.
