Rescued Lions from War-Torn Ukraine Find New Home in the UK

Five severely neglected lions rescued from war-torn Ukraine have found a new home at The Big Cat Sanctuary in the UK. The lions, Rori, Amani, Lira, Vanda, and Yuna, were rescued from neglect and abuse near the frontline in Ukraine, with some suffering from severe concussion and shell shock.

The lions, who had never stepped on grass before arriving at the sanctuary, were saved by the Wild Animals Rescue Center in Ukraine. The Lion Rescue Centre at The Big Cat Sanctuary was officially opened by Bake Off star Paul Hollywood, with a fundraising campaign collecting £500,000 to build the center for the lions.

The lions, who had been used for illegal breeding, photo exploitation, and kept as family pets, are now settling into their new habitats designed to provide them with the ideal environment to rest and recuperate. The team at the Lion Rescue Centre will ensure the lions receive the physical and psychological care needed to recover from their previous hardships.
