Rescued Horses Given Second Chance as Abandonments Rise: A Heartwarming Story of Hope

Two coloured cobs, Maximus and Bruno, were abandoned by their owners and left in poor condition on rented land. A caring neighbor contacted HAPPA, a welfare charity, for help. The horses were found to be neglected and in need of urgent care, but are now on the road to recovery with the help of HAPPA’s expert team.

HAPPA was able to rescue Maximus and Bruno using the Control of Horses Act 2015. The horses had overgrown hooves, poor teeth, and were overweight due to a lack of proper care. Despite their hardships, the horses are expected to make a full recovery and find forever homes through HAPPA’s rehoming scheme. The charity emphasizes the importance of responsible horse ownership to prevent abandonment.

Horse abandonment is on the rise, according to HAPPA, and the charity is facing an epidemic of abandoned horses. They stress the importance of not forgetting about these vulnerable animals and the burden it places on those left to care for them. HAPPA is committed to being a safety net for horses in need, but emphasizes that they cannot do it alone and need support from the community.
