Rescued Horses Find Healing and Hope in Redmond

A herd of horses rescued from a farm in Yelm, where a cockfighting operation was discovered, is now recovering at a facility in Redmond. The horses, along with 500 fighting roosters and other neglected animals, were saved by law enforcement and animal services. The horses, known as the “Valentine’s Day Herd,” were found in poor condition but have shown significant improvement after three weeks of care at the Save a Forgotten Equine (SAFE) rescue facility.

The rescued horses at the SAFE facility in Redmond are being treated with care and attention, shedding their past of neglect on the farm in Yelm. Four of the rescued horses, including a pregnant mare and a stallion, are currently at the Redmond facility, while others are in foster homes. The staff at SAFE are working on rehabilitating the horses and preparing them for adoption, providing them with the love and care they deserve.

The staff at the SAFE rescue facility are dedicated to helping the rescued horses recover and find new homes. They are working on building trust with the horses and improving their manners, ensuring they are ready for a bright future ahead. The community can support the animals by volunteering at the barn, donating through SAFE’s Facebook page or website, and potentially adopting one of the rescued animals.
