Rescue Operation: Pennsylvania SPCA Saves 11 Sheep from Neglectful Farm in Northampton County

The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement team rescued 11 sheep from a property in Pen Argyl, Northampton County after concerns for their welfare were raised. The officers found 12 dead sheep on the property, along with 11 live sheep in very poor condition, including 3 lambs. Three of the animals were rushed to emergency veterinary facilities for immediate medical intervention, while the remaining eight were brought to the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Main Line Animal Rescue Site for medical care.

The PSPCA Animal Law Enforcement team believes that felony-level charges may be applicable in this case under the torture statute, as the animals were intentionally deprived of food and sustenance without veterinary care. All 12 animals involved in the case have been signed over to the custody of the PSPCA, where they are receiving the medical care they desperately need. Once recovered, the animals will be placed in adoptive homes or approved rescue organizations.

The PSPCA’s chief executive officer, Julie Klim, emphasized the organization’s commitment to rescuing all animals in need, not just cats and dogs. Donations to support the care of these rescued animals are being accepted on the PSPCA’s website, and anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Animal Law Enforcement team.
