Patrice Jacobs Wolfson, who owned Harbor View Farm and raced 1978 Triple Crown winner Affirmed, passed away at the age of 87. She was a respected figure in racing and breeding, particularly in Florida. Wolfson had been in declining health for a few years prior to her death.
Wolfson was the daughter of legendary trainer Hirsch Jacobs and married Louis Wolfson in 1972. The couple bred and raced under the Harbor View Farm name until 2012. Affirmed, a Florida-bred horse, became the 11th Triple Crown winner in 1978, with his most memorable victory being in the Belmont Stakes.
Affirmed was a significant part of the Wolfsons’ relationship, and Patrice was known for her knowledge of bloodlines and her impact on the racing industry. She will be buried in New York, and no services are planned. Wolfson’s legacy includes breeding and racing several other successful horses, including Hall of Famer Flawlessly and champion 2-year-old fillies Outstandingly and It’s in the Air.
