Reflecting on 2024 and Looking Ahead to 2025: A Year in Rowan County 4-H

In 2024, Rowan County 4-H had a successful year with various programs, competitions, and camp experiences. Highlights included school enrichment programs, state leadership roles, club meetings, and new partnerships. The program also saw national representation and benefited from the contributions of 53 volunteers. Looking ahead to 2025, the program will be moving to a new facility, leading to some temporary program adjustments, but there will still be plenty of opportunities for youth to engage in 4-H activities.

The Playful Paws 4-H SPIN Club was offered in October 2024, with plans to offer additional SPIN Clubs in the new facility. 4-H’ers involved in the dairy program attended a Dairy Judging 101 clinic in Greensboro and will be competing in 4-H Dairy Judging in 2025. As the program prepares for 2025, new opportunities are anticipated, but significant changes are expected due to the relocation of the Cooperative Extension offices. Some programs will be temporarily paused or retired, such as the Speak Up program and Summer Fun, to allow for the transition to the new facility.

Despite the adjustments, there will still be opportunities for youth to engage in 4-H activities in 2025. Existing clubs will continue, with a new club starting in March. School enrichment programs, judging and quiz bowl opportunities, leadership events, animal-based projects, and fundraisers will also be available. The 4-H program encourages youths ages 5-18 to enroll and participate, with updates and information available through monthly newsletters and social media channels.
