A 2-year-old boy named Boden Allen went missing in Seligman, Arizona, prompting a search involving deputies and over 40 search-and-rescue personnel from various agencies. After 16 hours of searching, a rancher’s dog named Buford found the child 7 miles away from his home. The boy was unharmed and safely reunited with his family.
Buford, an Anatolian Pyrenees, found Boden during his nightly patrol for coyotes and other wildlife. The rancher, Scotty Dunton, discovered the child with his dog at the end of his driveway the next morning. Dunton believes Boden followed a road and traversed three mountain ranges to reach his property, where Buford guided him home.
The Yavapai Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to all who participated in the search efforts, as well as to Buford the dog for staying with the boy and bringing him to safety. Dunton praised Buford for his actions, stating that there were many potential negative outcomes but thankfully, the situation ended positively.
