Racing Legends: Hall of Fame Ballot Finalists of 2025

The National Museum of Racing has announced the 2025 Hall of Fame ballot, which includes 16 finalists who have made significant contributions to the NYRA circuit. One of the notable finalists is Rags to Riches, who won the 2007 Belmont Stakes in a thrilling race against Curlin, becoming just the third filly to win the Belmont. Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by John Velazquez, Rags to Riches overcame a stumbled start to secure the victory.

Jockey Jorge Chavez, who was the leading rider at NYRA from 1994-99 and won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey in 1999, is also a finalist for the Hall of Fame. Chavez’s career includes 41 Grade 1 victories, including a Kentucky Derby win with Monarchos in 2001. His fellow competitor Ramon Dominguez believes Chavez is deserving of the honor due to his tenacity and success on the track.

Trainer Christophe Clement, known for his versatility and consistency, is another finalist for the Hall of Fame. With over 2,560 wins and $182 million in earnings, Clement has trained top horses like Gio Ponti and Tonalist. His success on turf and dirt, as well as his ability to develop horses like Carson’s Run, showcases his horsemanship and skill as a trainer.
