Queen Camilla visited the British Racing School in Newmarket, Suffolk to mark its 40th anniversary. The school, which offers courses in horse training and administration, as well as jockey skills, is supported by the Queen who is committed to promoting British racing and providing opportunities for young people to work with horses.
The Queen and King took over Queen Elizabeth II’s stable of racehorses after her death in 2022. One of their former racehorses, Schematic, is used at the school to train students. The school also runs community projects like the Newmarket Pony Academy and the Riding A Dream Academy to increase access to horses and ponies for young people in the local area and from diverse ethnic communities.
Camilla, who has a strong interest in the equestrian world and is associated with equine charities, attended the school’s anniversary celebrations. The school’s chief executive expressed gratitude for the Queen’s support and commitment to ensuring young people have the opportunity to experience the benefits of working with horses and pursue careers in racing.
