John Stewart, founder of MiddleGround Capital, is being sued by Archean Capital Partners for allegedly failing to pay more than $20 million as promised. Stewart claims the suit stems from a disagreement with an organization trying to pressure them into an unfair agreement, limiting his comments on the advice of counsel.
The lawsuit alleges that Stewart and other defendants failed to pay Archean their agreed-upon share of revenue streams generated by managing MiddleGround Funds. Archean claims they are owed $22,838,519 as of October 31, 2024, out of a total of $36,042,342.
Archean also claims that Stewart diverted his efforts from MiddleGround to other endeavors, including investing heavily in horse racing and bloodstock. The lawsuit demands the cessation of any business ventures that were not approved in writing by Archean. The litigation was filed in December and the defendants have the right to file responsive pleadings.
