Post Time Named 2024 Maryland-Bred Horse of the Year and Champion Older Male

Post Time, a consistent older runner in 2024, was named Maryland-bred Horse of the Year, champion older male, and champion sprinter. He raced nine times, never finishing worse than third, and earned $975,000. Trained by Brittany Russell and ridden by Sheldon Russell, Post Time won four races, including the General George Stakes and Carter Stakes.

Post Time’s Grade 1 efforts showed he ranked among the best in the nation, finishing second in the Metropolitan Handicap and third in the Whitney Stakes. He also finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Post Time was the unanimous choice for Maryland-bred Horse of the Year and older male, as well as champion sprinter.

The 2024 champions will be honored at the Renaissance Champion Awards, recognizing excellence in Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Maryland. Other divisional champions include Studlydoright, Shkhara Fire, Mindframe, Call Another Play, Future Is Now, and Who’s Counting. Awards for Breeder, Broodmare, and Stallion of the Year went to R. Larry Johnson, Vielsalm, and Great Notion, respectively.
