Sergeant Ted Lewis of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department rescued a miniature horse named April from running loose on a busy highway. He quickly formed a bond with the sweet horse and decided to adopt her after finding her owner at the Horse Angels Rescue farm.
April had escaped from the farm just one day after being surrendered, slipping through a gate. The police department posted a photo of Lewis and April on social media, joking that she was the first member of their “mounted unit.” However, Lewis’s decision to adopt April turned the joke into reality.
The adoption made for a perfect ending to April’s story, with Penny Parker from the rescue farm expressing elation over the outcome. Lewis decided to give April a forever home on a farm associated with the police department, completing the heartwarming tale of the rescued pony.
