The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement Team rescued eleven sheep, including three lambs, from a property in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, after concerns were raised about their welfare due to several other sheep being found dead. The organization was contacted by the Slate Belt Regional Police Department and discovered a total of twelve dead sheep on the property.
Three of the rescued sheep, including two lambs and a ram, were taken to emergency veterinary facilities for immediate medical intervention, while the remaining eight were brought to the Pennsylvania SPCA’s Main Line Animal Rescue Site for medical care. All of the animals involved in the case have been signed over to the custody of the PSPCA for proper medical treatment and eventual adoption.
The PSPCA is working to ensure that all the rescued sheep receive the necessary medical care and can eventually be placed in adoptive homes or approved rescue organizations. The organization is also considering felony-level charges under the torture statute in this case and is encouraging anyone with information to contact their Animal Law Enforcement team. Donations to support the care of the rescued animals can be made on the PSPCA’s website.
