Pennsylvania Police Officer Falls in Love with Miniature Horse on the Loose

Sgt Ted Lewis of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department responded to reports of a small pony running loose near a busy highway and quickly formed a bond with the animal. The pony, named April, had escaped from a rescue farm just one day after being surrendered. Sgt Lewis located April and used a dog leash to guide her back to safety, describing her as a sweet horse.

The police department used the heartwarming incident for good public relations, joking that April was the first member of their “mounted unit” on April Fool’s Day. However, the joke turned into reality when Sgt Lewis decided to adopt April into his family. He explained that they had room at a farm associated with the police department and felt it would be a nice addition to give the horse a forever home. The rescue worker who had been trying to locate April was elated by the adoption, calling it incredible and meant to be.

The adoption of April by Sgt Lewis was seen as the perfect ending to the pony’s story. The rescue worker, Penny, expressed her joy at the outcome, stating that it made sense and was amazing. The police department’s social media post about April’s rescue and adoption garnered positive attention and highlighted the bond formed between Sgt Lewis and the sweet horse.
