Owensboro Racing and Gaming, a $100 million facility developed by Churchill Downs, is set to open on February 12, offering entertainment, dining, and gaming options unlike anything seen before in the region. The venue will feature 600 historical horse racing machines and a sports bar with a massive screen for watching major events.
The property includes a separate smoking section with advanced HVAC systems to minimize smoke in the designated area. Ahead of the public opening, a VIP event will be held on February 10 to benefit local charities, including one that provides financial assistance to families of children with pediatric cancer.
General Manager Steve Roof, a Kentucky Wesleyan College graduate, emphasized the importance of giving back to the community and shared a personal connection to the cause. The facility has created over 220 jobs, with most of the team already onboard and undergoing orientation. Roof is confident the property will be ready for its grand opening on February 12.
