Over 80 Pets Rescued from L.A. Wildfires Board Emergency Flights to Safety

More than 80 pets were evacuated from Los Angeles to Utah by the Best Friends Animal Society due to overcrowded shelters impacted by wildfires. The pets, including cats and dogs, were transported by Wings of Rescue to receive care and be made adoptable at the sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.

The pets were flown out of Los Angeles to Utah on a twin-engine turboprop plane, where they were quickly attended to by volunteers and veterinarians upon arrival. The flights were supported by a donation from the Cencora Impact Fund, and additional pets were flown to Seattle to free up space in Los Angeles shelters for animals affected by the wildfires.

In addition to the emergency pet evacuations, Best Friends has opened two “pet pantries” in Los Angeles to help pet owners feed their animals during the ongoing wildfires. The Palisades and Eaton fires have burned thousands of acres in Los Angeles County, prompting the need for animal rescue efforts and support for pet owners in the affected areas.
