OBS Spring Sale Concludes with Record-Breaking Averages and Million-Dollar Juveniles

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training concluded with a record average of $139,343, up 7.1% from the previous year. A colt by Tiz the Law topped the sale at $1.5 million, with nine horses reaching seven figures, including three by Tiz the Law. De Meric Sales was the leading consignor, while Mahmud Mouni was the leading buyer, purchasing 10 horses for $4,835,000.

Steve Venosa’s SGV Thoroughbreds sold the top two lots at the auction, with a colt by Tiz the Law going for $1.5 million and a son of Gun Runner selling for $1.45 million. Legendary horseman Eddie Woods had his final offering at OBS, selling 25 horses for $5,251,000. International buyers were active at the sale, with Hideyuki Mori, North Hills Co., and Korean interests acquiring several horses.

Bloodstock agent Case Clay purchased 10 juveniles for $3,750,000, including a colt by Quality Road for $750,000. Randy Gervais of Gervais Racing expanded his operation with three purchases, including a filly by Speightstown for $400,000. Alex Cortez of Cortez Racing had a successful pinhooking week, selling a colt by Justify for $250,000 after purchasing him as a yearling for $110,000.
