The Oakdale Equine Rescue has saved over 360 horses since its establishment in 2010, with a mission to rehabilitate, foster, and find homes for each horse. To support their efforts, the nonprofit is hosting the Second Annual Benefit Barn Bash on Sept. 23, with tickets available for purchase online or by phone.
The Benefit Barn Bash was first held in 2014, raising $10,000 to help pay for a horse’s cancer surgery and hay for the barn. The event was skipped in 2015 due to the Butte Fire, during which the rescue group helped transport animals to UC Davis. Co-founders Jeannine Etheridge and Lora Handley share a passion for horses and have rescued many over the years.
Oakdale Equine Rescue received its 501(c)3 status in 2010, with a focus on helping horses in need. The organization is looking for sponsors and volunteers to support their mission of rehabilitating and finding homes for rescued horses. Etheridge emphasizes the importance of ensuring donations go to legitimate nonprofits, and the group is selective in choosing foster families and adoptive homes for their horses.
