Mother Nature Wins Again: Oaklawn Park Cancels Racing Due to Harsh Winter Weather

Oaklawn Park had to cancel racing on Feb. 22 due to harsh winter weather, following a postponement the day before. The track had hoped to reschedule the races for later in the week, but a resumption of racing by Saturday was not possible.

Despite the cancellations, the $1.25 million Rebel Stakes (G2) and the full Feb. 23 card are scheduled to be run on Sunday amid milder temperatures, with the Feb. 24 card also set to proceed. Temperatures in Hot Springs began to rise above freezing late Friday afternoon, but are expected to drop below freezing again overnight.

Thawing conditions can pose challenges for track maintenance, but Oaklawn Park is hopeful that the races scheduled for the weekend will be able to proceed as planned.
