Moira Set to Return to Racing in Group 1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick

Moira, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf in 2024, will be returning to the races in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile at Randwick on April 5. After her Breeders’ Cup win, Moira was sold for $4.3 million to new owner Yulong Investments, who plans to eventually add her to their broodmare band but sent her to trainer Chris Waller to race first. Moira has also been nominated for two other top-level grass races at Randwick on April 12, including the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) and the Queen of the Turf (G1).

Yulong Investments and trainer Chris Waller have a strong hand for the current Australian racing season, with Via Sistina, the 2024 Cox Plate (G1) winner, winning her second straight Ranvet Stakes (G1) at Rosehill Gardens. Another North American top-level winner, Full Count Felicia, ran fourth in the Ranvet behind Via Sistina in her first start in Australia. Both Via Sistina and Full Count Felicia are nominated for upcoming races at Randwick, including the Queen Elizabeth and the Doncaster Mile.

In addition to Moira, Yulong and Waller also have multiple Grade 1 winner Anisette, who has not raced since finishing ninth behind Moira in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Anisette is nominated for several upcoming races at Rosehill Gardens, including the Doncaster Mile, Queen Elizabeth, Queen of the Turf, Emancipation Stakes (G2), and Neville Sellwood Stakes (G2).
