Moira and Anisette Set for Southern Hemisphere Debuts at Randwick

Reigning Eclipse champion turf female Moira is set to make her 6-year-old debut in the AU$4 million Doncaster Mile at Randwick Racecourse after being purchased by Yulong Investments for US$4.3 million. Moira, trained by Chris Waller, will be joined by Anisette, who was also purchased by Yulong and will be ridden by Michael Dee. They will face tough competition from Australian group 1 winners Another Wil, Tom Kitten, and Gringotts.

Switzerland, a 3-year-old colt trained by Waller, will compete in the T J Smith Stakes at Randwick against older horses. Switzerland, who has a previous group win over the track, will be ridden by Ryan Moore. The field includes fellow 3-year-old Traffic Warden and older runners such as Overpass, Joliestar, Magic Time, and Jimmysstar.

Wodeton, who finished as the Golden Slipper runner-up, will compete in the Sires’ Produce at Randwick with Moore as his partner. Trainer Waller believes Wodeton has coped well following his previous race and is confident in his ability to handle the 1,400 meters. Additionally, trainer Glen Thompson sees Plymouth as a strong contender in the Australian Derby after finishing fourth in the Rosehill Guineas and will be ridden by Mark Zahra.
