The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control has been working diligently to provide shelter and care for animals affected by the Palisades and Eaton Fires. Through partnerships with animal welfare agencies and adoption partners, they have successfully adopted out 296 animals and transferred an additional 300 to rescue groups, creating space for incoming evacuees in their care centers.
The collaboration between DACC, animal welfare agencies, and adoption partners has been crucial in ensuring that animals affected by the fires receive the care they need and find loving homes. The department remains committed to providing shelter and care for all displaced animals and urges the community to include pets and livestock in their emergency plans.
The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation’s Noah’s Legacy Fund supports the Department’s emergency response efforts, providing critical services for communities affected by wildfires, flooding, and earthquakes. Fundraising efforts by the Foundation support spay and neuter programs, pet adoptions, public education, disaster response, and overall animal welfare in the County.
