Brady Heiser, originally from Crown Point, Indiana, has been working tirelessly to rescue animals from the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. He put out a call on social media for people with horse trailers and teamed up with other rescuers to evacuate horses, cows, and other animals to safety. Despite encountering dangerous situations, Heiser made multiple trips back and forth to equestrian centers to rescue animals.
Heiser rescued numerous horses, a mini-Highland cow, a mini-horse named Truffles and Snuggles, and a 175-pound potbelly pig named Fancy Pants. He also helped rescue 75-plus horses, donkeys, peacocks, tortoises, llamas, emus, pigeons, and parrots from the wildfires. He emphasized that while donations for animals have been plentiful, families who have lost everything are in great need of basic necessities like toiletries, clothing, and books for children.
Despite never having ridden a horse before, Heiser risked his safety to rescue animals from the wildfires, driving through debris and dangerous conditions to reach the rescue scenes. He highlighted the importance of helping the people affected by the fires, as they are often overlooked in favor of animal donations. He encouraged donations of basic necessities to provide some sense of normalcy for families who have lost everything.
