Jacob Deutsch, a lifelong animal lover and horse enthusiast, immediately thought about the animals affected by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County. He owns six horses and 8 adopted dogs, and his concern for the animals prompted him to take action.
Deutsch decided to use his truck and trailer to rescue livestock threatened by the fires in Palisades, Malibu, and Topanga. He helped over 90 animals, including horses and donkeys, by transporting them to his property and other safe havens. Despite the “ghastly” scenes, Deutsch was inspired by the kindness and generosity of strangers opening their barns to help.
All the animals rescued by Deutsch are safe and sound, and he plans to continue making rescue trips for as long as necessary. He is grateful for the opportunity to help both people and animals during the wildfires and is inspired by the graciousness and generosity of those who have come together to support each other.
