Limerick City and County Council seized four horses from Thomondgate, Limerick on February 6, 2025, as the identity of the owner or keeper is unknown. The horses seized include a one-year-old brown and white male, a brown and white male yearling, a two-year-old chestnut female, and a two-month-old grey male Shetland pony.
The council has issued a notice to the potential owner(s) of the horses, stating they must come forward and fulfill specific legal requirements within five days of the seizure. Failure to do so will result in the disposal of the animals in accordance with the Control of Horses Act, 1996, and relevant local bye-laws.
Anyone with information regarding the ownership of the horses is urged to contact the council immediately.
