Leslie Law, a British Olympian and former USEF eventing development coach, has been named the new eventing chef d’equipe and high performance manager for the U.S. eventing team. He will be supported by Karyn Shuter, who will serve as the U.S. eventing high performance advisor. Law brings a wealth of experience from his successful career in elite eventing competition, including winning an individual gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
In his new role, Law will focus on supporting performance both at home and at major competitions, developing strategies for success, and working closely with individual athletes and their coaches to improve horse/rider partnerships. He believes that communication, trust, and respect are key to achieving success at the highest level of the sport. Law’s previous experience as the U.S. eventing development coach has prepared him for this new opportunity, and he sees this as the right moment in his career to take on a leadership role in an elite program.
Looking ahead, Law’s short-term goals include preparing for the FEI Eventing World Championships in Aachen next year and focusing on maximizing results for both the team and individual athletes. Long-term goals include building a strong team for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. Law plans to balance his commitments to Team USA with his own farm and clients by working closely with his wife, Lesley Grant-Law, and leveraging their partnership to sustain success in both areas.
