Legal Empress Ends Year with Maiden Special Weight Victory

Legal Empress, a 2-year-old filly by Tiz the Law, closed out the year with a Maiden Special Weight victory at Oaklawn. After consistently finishing in the top three in her previous starts, Legal Empress battled for the lead throughout the 1 1/16 mile race, ultimately pulling away to win by a neck at the wire. The China Horse Club-bred filly is trained by Abel Ramirez-Rodriguez and owned by Jerry Namy, who purchased her for $170,000 as a yearling.

Legal Empress is the second winner for her dam, Dothraki Queen, a Grade II winner and multiple Grade I placed mare. Dothraki Queen is a half-sister to Grade I winner Blushing K.D., Canadian champion Ambitious Cat, and other successful stakes winners. Tiz the Law, Legal Empress’s sire, has had a successful year as a stallion with 22 winners in 2024, including five stakes winners and two graded stakes winners, making him one of the leading North American freshman sires.

Legal Empress’s victory at Oaklawn marked a successful end to her racing season, showcasing her potential as a promising young racehorse. With a strong pedigree and the support of experienced trainers and owners, Legal Empress’s future in the racing world looks bright as she continues to develop and compete at a high level.
