The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2025 Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale saw nine horses sell for $1 million or more, with each session of the four-day auction featuring a horse reaching that mark. The sales topper was a colt by Tiz the Law that sold for $1.5 million to Spendthrift, West Point Thoroughbreds, and St. Elias Stables, showcasing the strength of the Thoroughbred industry.
Steven Venosa of SGV Thoroughbreds was the consignor of the Tiz the Law colt, who was described as a special horse with a lot of confidence and presence. Venosa also sold the previous highest-priced horse during the sale’s second session, a son of Gun Runner, setting the ceiling at $1.45 million.
Eddie Woods, a veteran consignor who is retiring, had a successful final sale with a son of the 2010 2-year-old champion selling for $1.3 million. Woods has a long history of conditioning top horses, including Classic winners and Eclipse Award winners. The sale also saw other consignors, such as Raul Reyes’ Kings Equine and Tom McCrocklin, achieve seven-figure sales with horses by Tiz the Law and other top sires.
