Laura Tomlinson’s new grand prix horse, Soegaards Bon Royal, made an impressive debut at the London International Horse Show, scoring 73.46% in the freestyle and finishing 11th on his World Cup debut. Despite some green mistakes, the combination caught the eye of the judges and showed potential for future success in piaffe, passage, and pirouettes.
Laura has been riding the Danish-bred warmblood since September 2021, and they have already achieved success in advanced medium and prix st georges competitions. Despite being inexperienced due to an injury and Laura’s pregnancy, Soegaards Bon Royal shows promise with three correct paces and a lovely outline. The pair is focused on laying positive foundations for future development.
Stephen Clarke, president of the ground jury, was impressed by Soegaards Bon Royal’s performance at the London International Horse Show, noting his beautiful type, correct movement, and talent for pirouettes. With a “chill winter” ahead, the talented gelding is expected to continue improving in 2025 and may even be a contender for a spot at the European Championships. Laura’s stable is filled with talent, and the future looks bright for her team.
