The Women’s Surface Creek Saddle Club is inviting horsewomen to join them for trail riding adventures and monthly meetings with educational programs planned for 2025. The club recently heard a presentation on search and rescue tips and enjoyed socializing with homemade treats. Trail rides are planned for all levels of riders, with safety being a top priority.
Monthly meetings are held in various locations and the cost to join the club is $40 for the year. The club also organizes events such as the “Island in the Sky Trail Ride” on Grand Mesa, where volunteers are needed. Other upcoming events include a Spa Day for horses in April and a fun night at Hotchkiss Fairgrounds in August with games and costumes. The club was founded in 1959 and values safety, education, social connection, and community involvement.
The next meeting will feature a presentation on backcountry first aid and interfacing with search and rescue volunteers. Future meetings will cover topics such as horse evacuation plans for local communities.
