Jamie Snowden is preparing Ga Law for the Randox Supporting Prostate Cancer UK Topham Handicap Chase at Aintree, eager to see how he handles the Grand National course. Ga Law, a six-time winner, has been schooling well over Aintree-style fences in Lambourn after a disappointing run in the Stayers’ Hurdle. Snowden believes Ga Law is better suited to chasing than hurdling and is looking forward to seeing him perform at Aintree, despite the challenge of a higher handicap mark.
While Ga Law is the focus for Aintree, Snowden also has a useful squad of horses, including Challow Hurdle runner-up Wendigo, who will not be running due to dry conditions. Laurens Bay, an EBF winner, has been schooled over fences and will be given the summer off before starting novice chasing next season. Snowden is hoping for rain to make a decision on whether to run Wendigo again or give him a break for the summer.
Snowden’s season started with a strong performance from Ga Law in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, finishing second, but struggled with softer ground in the winter. The decision to switch back to chasing was made after an unsuccessful attempt at the Stayers’ Hurdle, with Snowden confident in Ga Law’s abilities over fences. Despite the challenges of a higher handicap mark, Snowden is optimistic about Ga Law’s chances at Aintree.
