Isabelle Cook: A Rising Star in Eventing

Isabelle Cook has had a successful career in under-21 championships, winning team gold and silver, plus individual silver at junior level in 2022 and 2023, and team gold and individual bronze at her first young rider Europeans in 2024. She considers the young rider Europeans to be the highlight of her year, especially since she was able to ride Mexican Law, a horse bred and evented by her mother, Tina Cook, who is a multi-medallist that has now stepped down from competing at the top level.

In 2024, Isabelle also had her first advanced competition at Little Downham, finishing 10th on one horse and having a fall with Mexican Law. She also took over the ride on Cymoon from her mother, who describes him as a more complicated character than Mexican Law. Isabelle hopes to aim Mexican Law and Emerald Katie at young riders, and Espoir Landais and Cymoon at advanced classes in the upcoming year.

Despite her strong pedigree and record, Isabelle remains down to earth and independent, working on the family’s West Sussex set-up with minimal staff. She values her mother’s guidance but also emphasizes the importance of learning from her own mistakes. Isabelle is looking forward to the upcoming year, with goals of competing at advanced classes and potentially aiming for a four-star competition with Mexican Law.
